VINDAION On-Site Ground Resistance Tester Training at a Community Substation

17 апр. 2026 г. VINDAION
VINDAION’s technical team recently conducted a hands-on training session for maintenance personnel at a community-level substation, focusing on the correct and safe operation of ground resistance testers. Designed to address the unique challenges of urban distribution networks, this training aimed to ensure reliable grounding system performance, which is critical for protecting both equipment and public safety.

Training Objectives

The training was tailored to equip on-site maintenance teams with comprehensive knowledge of ground resistance testing, including:

  • Understanding the role of grounding systems: Explaining how proper grounding protects against electrical faults, lightning surges, and stray voltages in community substations.
  • Mastering tester operation: Step-by-step guidance on using VINDAION’s ground resistance testers, including probe placement, connection methods, and parameter configuration.
  • Safety compliance: Emphasizing key safety protocols, such as site isolation, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and avoiding live circuit interference during testing.
  • Troubleshooting common issues: Covering typical challenges in urban environments, such as high soil resistivity, interference from nearby utilities, and interpreting test results to identify potential grounding defects.

On-Site Training Process

The session combined classroom-style instruction with live, practical testing at the community substation:

  1. Theoretical Foundation: Our engineers began with a review of grounding system principles, relevant standards (e.g., GB/T 17949.1), and the working mechanism of the ground resistance tester.
  2. Live Demonstration: Using the substation’s actual grounding grid as the test subject, the team demonstrated the complete test workflow: from preparing the test site, setting up the voltage and current probes, to performing the measurement and recording data.
  3. Hands-On Practice: Participants were guided through operating the VINDAION tester themselves, with our engineers providing real-time feedback to correct errors and reinforce proper techniques.
  4. Result Analysis & Q&A: The session concluded with a review of test data, discussion of common pitfalls, and a Q&A to address participants’ daily maintenance concerns.

Why This Training Matters

In community substations, reliable grounding is the first line of defense against electrical hazards. Improper testing or maintenance can lead to undetected high resistance, which poses risks of equipment damage, electric shock, or even fire. By training local teams to use VINDAION’s ground resistance testers effectively, we help ensure the long-term safety and stability of the community’s power supply.

Commitment to Partner Success

At VINDAION, our support extends beyond delivering high-quality test equipment. Through hands-on training like this, we empower our partners with the skills and confidence to perform critical maintenance tasks in compliance with industry standards. This project underscores our commitment to building safer, more reliable power infrastructure at every level, from large-scale substations to local community grids.
